Conversational Turn Taking’s affect on Language
One on one conversations with toddlers, allows room for parent and child turn taking and expansions to be implemented. Research found that parents expanding children’s sentences at 2 years old was predictive of language development at 5 years old and imitations and turn taking seen in two sided conversations improved children’s language. Responsive one to one communication, sensitive to a child’s language level can be used as a great tool to support children’s developing language.
